This Sunday, join us for our January worship series, Story. Lay Leader David Savoie will speak on “Writing Our Story.”
Our Story begins with the world into which we are born. All of it, from parents to planets, bodies to trees, our small group of people to the long history of humans: all of it fits and moves together to create the setting, the 'Givens', of our story. Now it is up to you: how will you write it? This month we are looking at "Story", in its role in defining who we are, our meaning and purpose and identity. But who or what is the creator of our story? What part of it do we get to write and what is out of our control? And what does that suggest about how we might live our lives?
Worship begins at 10 a.m. in person and on Zoom. For those attending worship by Zoom, please install the Zoom app on your device and use Zoom Worship Service Meeting ID: 946 8973 5846.
Our Split-the-Plate offering recipient for the month of January is the Tennessee Citizens for Wilderness Planning. TCWP achieves and perpetuates protection of natural lands and waters through public ownership, legislation, or cooperation of the private sector. TCWP's strength lies in researching information pertinent to an issue, informing and educating our membership and the public, interacting with groups having similar objectives, and working through the legislative, administrative, and judicial branches of government. The organization partners with Advocates for the Oak Ridge Reservation, Emory River Watershed Association, UT Arboretum Society, The Nature Conservancy, Tennessee Parks and Greenways Foundation, the Oak Ridge League of Women Voters, and others. TCWP believes that working together with the community is an important means to protect wild lands and waters. For more information, visit https://tcwp.org/. Please GIVE HERE as you are willing and able, or text “ORUUC” to 73256.
After worship, please stay for coffee and conversation in the Social Hall. Adult and Youth Faith Formation classes take place from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The nursery is available during worship and that hour that follows.
